Construction Updates for Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital

Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital is building on its legacy of nearly 140 years of health and healing in our community.

The Heritage Project is a celebration of a new hospital opening in 2014, which will revitalize the downtown Denver campus and create the newest, most, modern hospital in Colorado. During construction of The Heritage Project, we want to provide easy access to our facilities.

Please note Lafayette Street is closed at 18^th Ave. for the duration of construction. Please access our hospital using the following instructions:

• Coming from the North (I-70)
  • Take the Colorado Blvd. Exit 276B
  • Take Colorado Blvd. south to 17^th Ave.
  • Take 17^th west (right turn) to Franklin St. (17^th turns will turn into 18^th Ave. as you cross Josephine and York Streets)
  • Take Franklin north (right turn) to 20^th Ave.
  • Take 20^th west (left turn) to Russell Pavilion/Emergency Entrance (cul-de-sac on your left)
• Coming from the West (Lakewood, Golden)
  • Take 6^th Ave. east to Downing St.
  • Take Downing north (left turn) to 20^th Ave.
  • Take 20^th east (right turn) to Russell Pavilion/Emergency Entrance (cul-de-sac on your right)
• Coming from the South (Denver Tech Center)
  • Take I-25 north to Downing St. (Exit 206)
  • Take Downing north (right turn) to 20^th Ave.
  • Take 20^th east (right turn) to Russell Pavilion/Emergency Entrance (cul-de-sac on your right)
• Coming from the East (Aurora, Commerce City, DIA)
  • Take I-225 to Colfax Ave. (Exit 10)
  • Take Colfax west to Franklin St.
  • Take Franklin north (right turn) to 20^th Ave.
  • Take 20^th west (left turn) to Russell Pavilion/Emergency Entrance (cul-de-sac on your left)
• Valet and self-parking are available at the Russell Pavilion /Emergency Entrance.
• All patients should still check in at the Welcome Desk at Russell Pavilion upon arrival to start the registration process.
• Visitors should use the Franklin Street lobby entrance located just north of the intersection of Franklin and 18^th when visiting patients.

All dates are subject to change depending on potential weather impacts.

• Dec.20: Traffic will be flagged at 20th Ave. and “old” Downing St. while Xcel Energy removes the existing signal light. (See #5 on the “Hot Spots” map).

• Until Jan. 9: Added construction traffic will remain in the lot west of Franklin St. and south of 20th Ave. Please do not park in this lot, it is a construction zone. (See #3 on the “Hot Spots” map).

• On-going: Lafayette St. from 19th to 20th Ave. is vacated and closed. The west entrance to the Russell Pavilion is now closed for demolition which begins Dec. 20. Access to the Russell Pavilion is available from 20th Ave. via Downing St. and Franklin St. (See #1 on the “Hot Spots” map).

• On-going: Marion St. now dead ends at 19th Avenue. A cul-de-sac will be constructed over the next few weeks. (See #2 on the “Hot Spots” map)

• On-going: Fencing for the new hospital site will continue to be erected along Downing St. and 20th Ave. The sidewalk on the south side of 20th Ave. and on the east side of Downing St. will be closed for the remainder of construction. (See #4 on the “Hot Spots” map).
