The Library Collection
The Exempla Libraries maintain an up-to-date collection of "core" medical and nursing books.  A collection of management books and journals is also available.

Online Catalog
The Exempla Libraries are part of the University of Colorado Health Science Center "Impulse" system. The system includes the collections of seven other Denver health sciences libraries.

Mediated searches
Exempla's professional medical librarians perform expert literature searches for staff or employees, custom tailored to your research needs.

End-user searching
OVID, an online user-friendly system for searching MEDLINE, is available from Exempla network computers. Other resources include UpToDate, MD Consult, STAT!Ref, DynaMed, ACP Pier, and Clin-eguide

Interlibrary loan
Only Exempla Healthcare Staff, House Staff, and employees, and affiliated personnel from Kaiser and EMG are eligible for Interlibrary Loan Services. Contact the library for questions about specific policies. 

Circulation of books and journals

Only Exempla Healthcare staff and employees, affiliated Kaiser and EMG employees, and individuals registered with libraries who provide reciprocal borrowing privileges may check out materials from the Medical Libraries. A registration form must be completed prior to checking out materials for the first time. See library staff to register and for information on circulation periods.

Photocopy & fax services

A self-service photocopy machine is available for use. Photocopying is done by library staff for Medical Staff only, within copyright guidelines. FAX service is available.

Information for families and patients

At Exempla Saint Joseph Medical Library:  The William V. Gervasini Memorial Library provides a resource and a refuge for patients, families, and the community. Dedicated to honor the memory of William V. Gervasini, the library serves as a medical information resource for anyone struggling with a serious illness or in need of understandable, objective information on medical issues and conditions.  The libraries are open to the public, and all services are free of charge.
