The Sister Joanna Bruner Family Medicine Center provides much of Exempla's charity out-patient care. The clinic serves the entire family, including children. Medical services include: acute illness and injury, care for chronic illness, gynecology, immunizations, minor surgery, newborn and well baby care, pregnancy and childbirth care, preventive care, specialty care referrals, sports medicine and urgent care. The Clinic consistently has a high demand for appointments.
The Clinic was recently remodeled, enlarged and renamed to honor Sister Joanna Bruner, who was a pioneer and the first administrator of Saint Joseph Hospital. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to the mission of providing high-quality care to all patients while supporting our residents and each other in learning.
Located on the campus of Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital, the Clinic provides easy access for patients to hospital facilities such as X-ray, mammogram, CT, cardiac stress testing, and others. We perform colposcopy, LEEP, casting, ultrasound, and many minor procedures. Our patient population is diverse, and we take pride in carrying out our mission to provide care to the underserved.
Faculty and residents practice side by side in clinic, which facilitates close relationships and a lively, collegial atmosphere. At times, the clinic also functions as a "home base." It's a place to regroup, share knowledge, talk through difficult cases, difficult days, life and politics, and "be with your own."
