Exempla Saint Joseph OB/GYN Faculty
The OB/GYN attending staff is comprehensive, with appromimately 50 staff members playing essential roles in resident education and experience. There is full-time attending staff in gynecology, reproductive endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine and gynecologic urology. Other attending staff members have interests in genetics, diagnostic and operative laparoscopy, laser surgery and obstetrical ultrasound: A unique feature of our program is our ongoing effort to foster a sense of cooperation, teamwork and support among our OB/GYN staff.
Lori Walton, Program Coordinator
Lori is a native of Colorado, growing up in the Denver metro area. She has been with Exempla since 2004, starting out in the Performance Excellence department. Her interests include spending time with her children, and playing softball and soccer.
John Adams, M.D., FACOG
OB/GYN Program Director (Interim)
Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Adams received his medical degree from the Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine and completed his residency training at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where after graduation, he also served as an Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. After three years as the Department Head of OB/GYN services at the US Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy he went on to serve as an attending physician for the Family Practice Residency Program at the US Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr Adams has been with Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital since 2004.
Nicholas A. Peros, M.D., FACOG
Faculty OB/GYN
After graduating from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Peros completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati. After finishing his specialty training, Dr. Peros served in the United States Public Health Service in Northern New Mexico for three years. Before joining the Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program, Dr. Peros was employed by the Colorado Permanente Medical Group for thirteen years.
Rachel Gaffney, M.D., FACOG
Director - Seton Women's Center
After completing her undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina, she continued at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine to pursue a career in women's health. She served as a resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and became Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2002. Before joining the Exempla OB/GYN Residency Program she enjoyed several years in private practice in Denver.
 Christine Giesing, M.D., FACOG
Faculty OB/GYN
Dr. Giesing is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist. She received her undergraduate education at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. After graduating from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine she completed her residency training at Kaiser Santa Clara in Northern California. Prior to joining the faculty she was in private practice in the Denver area. She has enjoyed her return to academic medicine and looks forward to continued involvement in resident education.
 Elaine Landry, M.D. FACOG
Faculty OB/GYN
Dr. Landry received her undergraduate education at Rice University. After attending the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, she completed her residency training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She enjoyed one year of academic teaching prior to joining the faculty of the Exempla Ob/Gyn residency program. She is looking forward to continued involvement in teaching residents and students.
 Marshall Gottesfeld, M.D., FACOG
Faculty OB/GYN
Growing up in Denver, Dr. Gottesfeld then attended Amherst College in Massachusetts. He returned for medical school and residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and he is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After enjoying 11 years in private practice, he is excited to return to academic medicine.
Lisa Farkouh, M.D., FACOG
Faculty Perinatologist
Dr. Lisa Farkouh is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She performed a six-year accelerated Medical Education Program at Union College and Albany Medical College in New York. She then completed her OB/GYN residency at The State University of New York at Stony Brook before traveling to Denver for her Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado. She has practiced with Obstetrix Medical Group since she completed the fellowship in 1997. Dr. Farkouh has published in several areas of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, including "Delayed Interval Deliveries." She and her husband enjoy many outdoor sports activities and travel, and return to New York City as often as possible to visit with family.
Andrew McBride, M.D., FACOG
Faculty Urogynecologist
After graduating from Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. McBride completed a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Virginia. He then continued for three more years of fellowship training in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins. His commitment to teaching and research has continued at Exempla-Saint Joseph Hospital as the Director of Mountain States Urogynecology.
