Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital Graduate Medical Education Residency program uses ONLY the ERAS system (Electronic Residency Application System) for each year's application process and match. This service necessitates electronic applications only. Please contact ERAS for more information on the application process.
Residency Application Information
The OB/GYN Residency Program at Saint Joseph Hospital encourages and welcomes all qualified individuals to apply for a residency position. Admission is highly competitive and applicants can be expected to have a first time USMLE score of 210 or higher. At this time, COMLEX scores are not accepted. Applications are submitted via ERAS (see below). Generally, interviews are scheduled in December and January and toward the end of the week. Occasionally, we will allow interviews for resident applicants outside the regular interview periods.There are a number of hotels within easy commute of our hospital. Once in Denver, applicants are invited to one of our resident's homes for a "meet and greet party". There, they will have an opportunity to meet our residents, ask questions and get to know us better. This is in addition to our formal interviews at which time you will meet a number of our faculty and other residents, tour the hospital and have lunch together. If you have time, you may wish to spend a day or so visiting the Denver area as well as the Rocky Mountains and getting an appreciation for what our city has to offer.

The following information is required for your application to be accepted for review:
- 1. Personal Statement
- 2. Dean's Letter
- 3. Medical school transcript
- 4. USMLE Step 1 - Score ~ 210 or above (COMLEX scores will not be accepted)
- 5. Three letters of recommendation; one of these must be from a practicing, Board Certified OB/GYN physician.
If you have postgraduate training, a letter of recommendation and/or evaluation from the program director is required.
Please note that it is a requirement of our program for residents to be licensed by the State of Colorado, Board of Medical Examiners by the end of the second year of training. Please check the Colorado Board website for further information on this requirement: (www.dora.state.co.us/medical/)
Further Requirements for IMG:
One year of preliminary training in a clinical setting, in a U.S. fully accredited ACGME facility (within the last 3 years). IMGs must hold a valid ECFMG certificate, prior to NRMP deadline for submission of our rank list.
Medical Student Clerkship Application
We offer one student per four week rotation on urogynecology, and two students per four week rotation on gynecology. We accept students from August 1, through January 31. You may schedule any four consecutive weeks starting on a Monday and ending on a Friday. We will accept applications March1 through June 15.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology welcomes medical students from accredited U.S. or Canadian medical schools who are strongly considering OB/GYN as a career. Applicants must have completed Part I of the USMLE with a competitive score of 210 or higher, and must have completed a third year obstetrics and gynecology rotation. The rotations are four weeks long and include both inpatient and outpatient care. Students work closely with house staff to assure sufficient patient contact. Students attend all OB/GYN educational conferences.

Medical Student Elective
During your rotation you will meet with the Medical Student Clerkship Administrator, Elaine Landry, MD. Please have your school's evaluation form mailed or faxed (or bring it with you) and this will be filled out and sent to your school at the end of your rotation. Meals will be provided to students when they are assigned to night call. Housing is available at the Saint Christopher Inn at a reasonable rate.
