Although resident work is demanding, there is still enough time to enjoy social activities. The Internal Medicine Program organizes several group functions, including a Fall Dinner, Christmas party, and in conjunction with the other residency programs - the Spring Fling. These events give both residents and staff the chance to relax and socialize outside of the hospital setting.
Residents are also able to enjoy the city of Denver and the state of Colorado. Denver is a vibrant metropolis which offers a wide array of social and cultural events. There are a large number and variety of restaurants, serving food of every ethnicity and style. Denver is the home to over forty museums exhibiting everything from western history to modern art. The Performing Arts Center in Denver is just one of the venues that plays host to a number of nationally recognized productions. Additionally, Red Rocks Amphitheater is a world-renowned outdoor venue that is a must-see for anyone who visits the area. Sports enthusiasts enjoy professional teams in every major sport, as well as an abundance of college teams around the area. Outside of Denver, the state of Colorado is a mecca for outdoor activities. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, residents enjoy hiking, camping, rock-climbing, fishing, snowshoeing, skiing, and snowboarding, just to name a few. Clearly, there is never a lack of things to do on a day off.
