The physician faculty members of the General Surgery Residency program at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital program are recognized for their excellence in both clinical and academic medicine. There is a high level of collegiality among the residents and faculty.
Meet the Surgery Residency Program Faculty:
John T. Moore, M.D., FACS
Program Director, Surgery Residency Program
Chair, Department of Surgery
Dr. Moore came to Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in the summer of 1981 as a first year intern. He completed his medical training here and came back years later as the program director for the General Surgery Residency program.
 Deborah Davis-Merritt, M.D.
Associate Program Director
Dr. Deborah Davis-Merritt, Associate Program Director, is a Colorado native and graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine and General Surgery Residency. After fellowship training in Capetown, RSA, she has been on staff at Exempla/St. Joseph's Hospital with the Colorado Permanente Medical Group since 1990 and has been a full time director with the residency program since July 2004. Her passions are teaching, bicycling, skiing and parenting.
Laurie Cooper
Program Administrator
Laurie brings twenty plus years experience in healthcare administration as the General Surgery Program Administrator. She loves helping people and meeting new faces from all over the country. Her interests include: gardening, reading, history, camping, and family events.
