Inaugural Leaves of Hope Event Races to Success
5K Run + 1-Mile Fun Walk
With support from the Lutheran Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, physicians, corporations and individuals, the foundation held its inaugural fundraising event, Leaves of Hope Run/Walk, on Sunday, June 1, 2008. Leaves of Hope was the kick-off event for the annual National Cancer Survivors Day celebration, a longstanding tradition that brings together cancer survivors to celebrate the gift of life with their families, friends, and the staff who cared for them. Thanks to amazing community generosity and support, the 321 runners and walkers at this first annual Leaves of Hope Run/Walk raised over $42,000 for cancer programs at Lutheran Medical Center.
Over the years, philanthropy has played a critical role in Lutheran's history. The Lutheran Breast Care Center, Exempla Lutheran Hospice at the Collier Hospice Center and Infusion Care at the Cancer Center are just a few examples of how generous donors have invested in making a difference in the health of our community. Thank you.
