These classes will help you prepare for your baby's birth. Nationally certified childbirth instructors teach the classes that include an overview of the process of labor and incorporate Lamaze techniques, coping strategies, relaxation, breathing techniques, roles for partners, medications, cesarean birth, hospital procedures and recovery after birth.

Childbirth Preparation Classes At Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital
There are three courses:
- A standard four-week class
- Weekend
- An express class.
Classes are tailored to meet the needs of each group. You should plan to complete your class three weeks before your due date.

Childbirth Preparation
Cost: $75
These classes are our standard four-week series and are taught by nationally certified childbirth instructors. Class content includes an overview of the process of labor, coping strategies, relaxation and breathing techniques, roles for partners, use of medication, cesarean birth, hospital procedures, and recovery after birth.
Offered: Four weekly sessions, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Condensed Childbirth Preparation
Cost $75
These classes are our two-week series and are designed for busy people who cannot attend classes on week nights, but can come on Saturdays. Classes are taught by nationally certified childbirth instructors and content is identical to our standard four-week series.
Childbirth Express
Cost: $60
This one-session class is designed for busy people who cannot attend a more in-depth childbirth class. It offers an overview of the basics of childbirth, and will provide you with essential techniques to help you prepare for your delivery at Lutheran.
Private Childbirth Preparation
Cost: $125
If you are unable to attend a childbirth series, a certified childbirth instructor can meet with you by appointment for a 2 1/2 hour session. Call Women's and Family Services at 303-425-2229 to schedule a private class and tour.
