How to Volunteer
"Each nurse that took care of my mother is one in a million, as are the volunteers."
Exempla Lutheran Hospice depends on its many volunteers to operate and serve patients and their families. To volunteer, you will need to complete an application and initial interview, then sign up to complete 20 hours of training. Call 303-403-7274.
- Home Hospice Care volunteers perform mutually agreed upon activities and can include respite care, homemaking tasks and companionship. Schedules are arranged with the families.
- Inpatient Unit volunteers work in Collier Hospice Center and assist with patient care, such as answer phones, freshen water pitchers, and perform other tasks as assigned. Volunteers work a pre-arranged schedule, usually one day or night a week for three hours.
- Office Support and Greeter Desk volunteers assist with greeting visitors and performing clerical duties in Collier Hospice Center.
- Bereavement volunteers contact, support and follow up with the bereaved under the direction of the bereavement coordinator.
- Transitions volunteers work with patients in their home setting performing tasks as agreed upon with the family and volunteer. Transitions support those who have a life-limiting illness but are not yet ready for hospice care.
- Dragonfly Program volunteers assist facilitators in their work with children's needs for bereavement support.
"You exceeded my expectations (which were high) in every way!"
