My husband was very ill with heart failure. I wouldn't leave his bedside, but that didn't stop the wonderful staff at Bridges Integrative Health Services from helping us get through a particularly rough time.
It was over the 4th of July weekend, with too much food and too many visitors. And as much as we loved seeing everyone, I guess it was all a bit too much for Jack. That afternoon we could see the edema in his legs. Later, when he said he was having trouble breathing, we rushed right into the emergency room and were admitted to Exempla Lutheran.
Both of us felt like we'd ruined the holiday for everyone. This was on top of being desperately scared and depressed. My daughter, without our knowing it, called the doctor to get an authorization for a healing touch session for Jack. She also set up a massage for me.
A woman from Bridges called to let us know. Two therapists came up and took care of us right there in the hospital room. They were gracious and kind, and so very skilled at what they did. The therapy made everything seem brighter. Jack felt so good afterward, he wanted to go home. I'll never forget how the Bridges therapists were there when we needed them, and how they went out of their way on a holiday weekend to make us feel at home.
