David Hamm President and CEO
Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center's first President and CEO has been part of the project since its inception. David Hamm, who has been with Saint Joseph Hospital and then Exempla Healthcare since 1991, had the vision for a new Exempla hospital to provide services "where the people are."
Dave has held many titles and responsibilities with Exempla. As Vice President for System Services, Chief Operating Officer, Vice President for Ambulatory and Clinical Services and Vice President for Shared Services, Dave has developed a deep and broad knowledge of the people and services of Exempla Healthcare.
He has served on numerous community boards including the Colorado Cancer Research Project; the advisory board for the Regis University School of Business and Health; and S.E.T., a Denver non-profit organization to provide health ministries to the underserved. He chaired the board of Hospital Shared Services.
Dave earned a bachelor of science degree from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas and a master's degree in Business Administration from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
Exempla Lutheran Medical Center
Grant Wicklund President and CEO
Grant Wicklund is President and Chief Executive Officer of Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Grant has more than 25 years of senior-level health care experience. Grant has worked as a senior corporate executive with broad staff and line responsibility in both tax-exempt and for-profit hospital systems and corporate entities. Grant has significant experience as both a leader and a consultant for health care organizations concerning opportunities in operations, business development, logistics, productivity, cost reduction and labor strategies.
Prior to joining Exempla, Grant served as Interim President and CEO of St. Francis Health Center, a Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Grant also served as Corporate Senior Vice President of Centura Health in Colorado with 12 acute care hospitals, seven senior living residences, and numerous surgery centers and joint ventures. Grant was responsible for Human Resources, Supply Chain and Purchasing, and all Laboratory functions for Centura.
He has served on the board of directors of nine different hospitals, three independent surgery centers and two physician group practices, as well as numerous charitable organizations, and one family foundation. Several of these organizations have been based in Colorado.
Grant received his Bachelor of Science and Arts degree in Industrial Relations from Memphis State University, Memphis, Tennessee.<
Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital
Bain J. Farris President and CEO
Bain J. Farris is President and Chief Executive Officer of Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver.
Bain has diverse management experience in the fields of health care and health insurance. Bain has over 25 years of executive leadership experience in Catholic health care.
Prior to joining Exempla, Bain served on the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCLHS) senior leadership team and managed a variety of complex financial and operational initiatives in SCLHS hospitals. He served as the Interim CEO for St. James Healthcare in Butte, Montana. He also served as the Site Administrator for Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Bain also served as President and CEO of the $1 billion Daughters of Charity Health System, where he oversaw business operations and strategic direction for five hospitals and medical centers spanning the California coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
Prior to that he was Executive Vice President for Anthem, the Blue Cross Blue Shield plan that began in Indiana and became Wellpoint.
He also served as President and CEO of the 650-bed St. Vincent Hospital and Health Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, the largest hospital in the Daughters of Charity Health System (now Ascension Health). During his time at St. Vincent, he was involved in the hospital's relocation; and as CEO he oversaw a $140-million addition to the hospital.
Bain received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Marian College in Indianapolis and his MHA from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.
