Once you have chosen among the treatment options, you will be in the care of our cancer-speicalist physicians, as well as our entire, dedicated cancer staff and nurses. Some of them will become familiar to you as old friends, since they often "float" between the infusion center, radiation oncology and our in-patient units.
Your Patient Navigator, on the staff of the American Cancer Society will help you access resources outside Exempla, including how to find financial aid for cancer care, how to arrange for transportation for your treatments, and how to find housing for visits by family.
The Cancer Center at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and the Breast Care Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Center of Excellence for mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy and ultrasound-guided biopsy. The Breast Care Center is also governed by the FDA through the Mammography Quality Standards Act and is a member of the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
