Oncology Integrative Therapy

At the Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center we will help you overcome cancer by providing you with State of the Science medical treatments and integrative therapies that have been shown to improve your quality of life and well-being.

Please ask us about the integrative therapies that are available to help you beat cancer.

• Music Therapy - music can profoundly improve your quality of life during cancer treatment. Music has been shown to decrease depression and lessen the experience of pain. You are welcome to bring your own music or ask to see what we have to offer you. 
• Pet Therapy - spending time with animals has been shown to reduce anxiety and increase a sense of happiness. We have trained pet therapy teams that will spend time with you whether you are in the medical, surgical, or our radiation oncology departments.
• Art Therapy - various forms of art can be used to help you come to terms with the emotions associated with cancer and its treatment. We offer many different forms of art for you and your family to experience while you are visiting with us.
• Digital Therapy - in this electronic age of instantaneous communication we offer CarePages which allows you to develop your own health related web page. Through the use of this web page you can communicate all of your cancer related information to family and friends quickly and easily.
• Massage Therapy - massage has been shown to also improve physical and emotional quality of life for cancer patients. We will have massage therapists who have specialized training in working with cancer patients available to you.
• Acupuncture - is another integrative therapy that has been shown to have both physical and emotional benefits for cancer patients. If you are interested in acupuncture, please let us know.
• Psychological Counseling - our department of psychosocial oncology is directed by Dr. Kendall and provides individual appointments, support groups, nutritional counseling, and case management services.
