- In order to restore normal function of the knee after cartilage loss, a surgery is performed to remove the surface of the joint, shave off the arthritic ends, and replace them with new metal and plastic surfaces. - Revision of Total Knee
- A revision of total knee replacement is when the original components are removed and new ones are installed. The preparation, surgery and recovery are similar to the total knee replacement.
