The Patient Pricing Center offers a personal, convenient way to learn about your specific health care charges before being admitted to the hospital.
You have several options to receive an estimate for any service or procedure at Exempla's three hospitals - Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center, Exempla Lutheran Medical Center or Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital.
When emailing or faxing, please provide:
- Your name and address
- Insurance carrier (if applicable)
- Physician's name
- Description of the procedure
- Whether you are having the procedure performed on an inpatient or outpatient basis
- Which Exempla hospital you will receive treatment
Within two business days, we will call you with the high, low and average hospital "gross charges" for your particular test, procedure or service. We provide this range because hospital charges can vary as the result of your specific medical condition, and the procedures, supplies and services needed for your care. For example, some surgeries may take longer and some people may need more medications than others. Hospital charges are likely much higher than our expected payment. If you are insured, your insurance company has probably negotiated a discount with us. If you are not insured we will offer you a discount.
The price estimate you receive will be for hospital charges. It will not include physician fees. Although we want our charge information to be accessible, note that what will most likely be of greatest importance to you is your personal, "out of pocket" payment. If you have health insurance, your insurance company will likely pay a large portion of these costs, although you will be responsible for any co-pays and deductibles. If you have health insurance, it is best to contact your insurance plan to understand how much your insurance will cover and how much you will be expected to pay.
