What is Community Outreach?

Community outreach is creating comprehensive community partnerships to further the awareness of an organization in the communities it serves.

How do we do that?

Our hospital has been part of the Denver community for more than 100 years and we are working to identify and develop lasting partnerships with an emphasis on the underserved and uninsured. In some cases, these partnerships can help us create healthier communities.

Some of the ways we accomplish this are through:

• The Community Resources Forum

Every month we host a special group of guests as part of the Community Resources Forum. The Community Resources Forum at ESJH was established several years ago to bring community partners together to network and extend resources to the community. More than 70 community agencies, organizations, governmental service programs, businesses and health care partners meet on the first Friday of each month to network and share information about how their services benefit the community and our patients. During these meetings, five agencies present more detailed information with time for questions and comments from the audience.

• Community Benefit Reporting

As a not-for-profit organization and a Catholic health care facility, we are dedicated to providing quality health care to our communities. We are also required to document and report our services in alignment with our partners in the larger health care community. Each unit or department here at ESJH is responsible for sharing this documentation, both in numbers and in stories. We can help with training to record activities, as well as suggesting activities in the community or in the hospital that are part of this reporting.

How can I help?

One of the ways you can help is by serving on various boards and committees in the community that share our mission. Another way you can help is to invite our neighbors, partners and others to our hospital to learn more about what we are doing in the community.
