For the Media
Exempla Healthcare and its three hospitals in the metropolitan Denver area welcome media requests for medical and health stories, including interviews with physicians, subject matter experts, patients and hospital staff.
We believe in openness and transparency in providing health care, and in communication with patients, their families, staff and the news media.
For the privacy and safety of our patients and staff, there is a media policy (link to SCL media policy) and related news media guidelines (link to CHA guidelines) based on federal privacy laws that should be adhered to in all media interactions within the hospital.
Media Inquiries
All news media requests to interview patients, staff or physicians must be made through a communications officer at the hospital or corporate communications office. Any representative of the news media must receive explicit permission from Exempla personnel before conducting interviews on hospital property and must be accompanied by a designated hospital representative at all times when on hospital property.
If you are inquiring about a patient condition, please refer to the CHA guidelines (link again) for information on specific patient conditions. Due to federal privacy regulations, known as HIPAA, you must provide the patient’s full name in order to be given information about his or her condition. With patient permission, other information may be released and requests for interview granted, if medically appropriate.
Communications offices are staffed Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, excluding holidays. During business hours, all news media inquiries should be made through the care site communicators listed below. For urgent after-hours inquiries, please use the media pager – 303-897-3839. A communications staffer is on call 24-7, year round.
